Fast track to Masters Degrees
On the preceding page it showed that to achieve a Masters Degree that it is required that the student must first achieve a Bachelor of Divinity or Master of Divinity Degree. For achieving a Master of Theology Degree it is still a prerequisite that the student first acquire a Master of Divinity Degree; however, the student may study for the Master of Religious Education Degree, or the Master of Ministry Degree without first studying the Bachelor of Divinity or Master of Divinity Degree.
In the case of studying the fast track to the Masters Degree, and then the student wishes to continue his or her studies towards a Doctorate Degree, the student would then need to study and additional 40 semester hour Masters Degree before qualifying for any of the Doctorate Degree courses, or the student would have to study and additional 40 semester hours in the Doctorate program above what would be required normally.
Example: If the student were to fast track to a Master of Ministry Degree and then decide he or she would like to study for the Doctor of Ministry Degree, the student would need to acquire an additional Masters Degree (eg. Masters of Religious Education…), or would add 40 semester hours of study in the Doctor of Ministry Degree program (ie. Instead of 32 semester hours, 72 semester hours doctorate level study).
